Active & Safe Routes to School (ASRTS) is community partners from several organizations throughout the Counties of Elgin, Middlesex, Oxford, and the cities of London and St. Thomas working together to promote and sustain ASRTS programs that encourage children and families to choose active transportation.

International Walk to School Month (iWalk)
October is International Walk to School Month! This annual celebration of active transportation takes place each October in communities around the world. Active school travel is important because it supports improved physical and mental health in children, less traffic and congestion, safer school zones, and better academic performance.
Schools can celebrate International Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Month on Wednesday October 7, 2026 (iWalk Day), or anytime during the month of October. The event promotes healthy habits, road safety, and environmental awareness. Check out the links below for sample posters, social media messaging, tools, and activities.
